And, forgot, in several weeks, I will be going to Canada.

Will be going with Sa, to a wedding, as her husband doesn't want to go...I believe Canada used to be a very routine trip for their group..so, I get my first experience there.

Fortunately, the US isn't REQUIRING Passports until the end of the year, but it still wouldn't hurt me to go ahead and start that process going...

Mom is going to look for the Birth Certificate...so, as long as I have that on me, I should be ok.

Found out that the local Post Office doubles as a passport center...

Of course, there's no way I can afford the cost of a passport right now, but still, to get one just to make such travels easier...and, if I have one, I may eventually be able to fulfill the goal of travelling elsewhere around the world.

Canada will be fun...can't wait. Now to plan.

they're not all that expensive, at least not from what i remember. they're also quite handy for alot of things.

They are about $70 and are good for 10 years. I recommend having one as it answers many identification needs (New job--I-99 forms a passport is all that is needed. Otherwise, you need one from column a and one from column b.) Understand not wanting to invest the funds right now. There is also the cost of the pictures, which is between $10 amd $20.
If mom has trouble finding the bc, order an offical copy from the Board of Health ASAP. You will need it for the passport anyway.

*nod* I saw $67...and an additional $97 if I wanted it expedited...so, I'll get it eventually, but won't have the stamp for the one out of country place I've been...and then will concern myself with spending that expense and not ever going anyplace else. Argh... :-)

understand completely. Besides, Canada doesn't usually stamp the thing anyway and that 70-90 could buy you a suit at goodwill...
