"Suddenly there came a loud bang of thunder, and God spoke, 'Chris, meet me halfway: buy a damn ticket'"

Seriously, good luck to anyone I know who has bought a ticket for tonite's "Please God, let me win" event. :-)

LOL! Yes, we do powerball here, or something equivalent. SB was just commenting that maybe we should play. I say, sure, but s'far as I'm concerned we should either play or not play -- not just play with the pot is the highest and the odds are the worst. I mean, what's the REAL difference in your life between $80 million and $200 million?

Not a single winner for me. Bah. I think I'm just destined to work for the rest of my life. *sigh*

Assuming there's one for sale and you can get a mortgage, since you don't get that money all at once.

*shrug* I think that after, "Retire in luxury," everything else is gravy. I don't see why people are so drawn to large sums of money they can't conceptualize.

That is my point exactly.

Okay, if I had played and somehow beat the 146 million to 1 odds - there would be changes in my life. But would those changes really be better? The obvious would be the knowledge, if you were to invest the money - you would never have to worry about a paycheck to paycheck existence again. The other hand, you might lose that reason to get up in the morning and greet the day. After you have bought your 10th fast car, your 8 wife, you need to find something that would be worthwhile - to keep you interested in living.

Many super rich from news reports I have read sometimes find it hard to keep up the spending spree's - to out do themselves, after they have spent on all things imaginable, they actually get depressed because they have WON THE GAME! It would be close to my being on a company jeopardy team back in 2003, That first victory was the sweetest thing in the world - we had beaten a team of superior knowledge and experience for the first time in three years straight - and after a very hard defeat the previous year (18000 to zero or something stupid like that). The next win was a big one because it meant we woudl be going for an all expenses paid trip to Charleston, SC - stay at a 5 star hotel - and be treated like royalty. But that last game, after it was all over - what did we do.. IMPLODE! I finally got a few friends back, but it was not the same, and the next year we failed at that final game because the drive was just not there.

Sorry for the long reply but when it says the Meek will inherit the earth - what I make that out to be is that the joy of living will be the more simplier pleasures. Citizen Kane, Rosebud - I rest my case. :)
