Elizabethtown
Dec. 13th, 2005 11:21 pmSo, managed to go see Elizabethtown tonite.
Good movie...wandered into "Garden State" territory for a bit, but still, was good.
Cameron Crowe directed, so of course it had a good soundtrack.
Much like Garden State, there were pieces that made me go "god, this feels like my life", and other parts that made me go "Why the hell did they include THAT in the movie??"
Missed the first 10 or 15 minutes of it...damned "near" rush hour traffic...but, the movie only cost Fifty Cents to get into, so no complaints there.
A point in the movie made me miss what was one of my "goals" this year...to travel Route 66 for a ways..just to see some of the country. Have never done that...money being a major issue on that one. Still, with the pictures you saw in the "House on the Rock" post, I can't complain..as the vacation I DID get to go on was a damned good one. Still, Route 66 goes on the list of trips I'll do sometime, if I can...maybe in a year or so. If I learned anything at my former company, it was the value of taking vacations, actual vacations, while you can.
Has anyone else seen this movie? If so, we can discuss in comments. :-)

Date: 2005-12-14 12:46 pm (UTC)As for the trip, sounds like it would be a blast! We absolutely loved traveling back from Colorado using the Santa Fe Trail as our main road back. Found tons of wonderful things to stop and and do. :) I would highly recommend a road trip like the one you're planning anytime!

Date: 2005-12-18 07:37 am (UTC)One of these days, I'll post a "Reasons I liked Garden State Better", and another "Reasons I liked Elizabethtown Better" post...because both had really good points, and points that weren't so good...
Still, seeing Orlando have to actually act was very nice..just wish they'd picked someone other than Kirsten Dunst...
Then again, in GS, I liked Braff, but felt that Natalie Portman was kinda wasted in it..
Of course, after having seen her in SW III, ANYTHING else makes her appear to be actress of the year...feh. :-P

Date: 2005-12-18 07:38 am (UTC)Oh, trips like that would be a lot of fun...and I can't wait to be able to plan a vacation trip again. Next one will likely be "Route 66", unless something else catches my eye. :-)
