Got my first "Instructor Response" to Paper 1 today..

4 "Very Goods" and an "Acceptable"...

None of these prime papers are being graded...the midterm and final portfolios are...comments from this one were

"Good paper 1, very strong"
"I like the use of Internal Dialogue!"
"Watch Punctuation!" - Yeah, that's always a devil of mine.
"Keep up the Hard Work!"
"I look forward to reading more of your work this semester!"

Good to hear you're taking such a strong first step. Bravo! I know how hard it can be.

*nod* Well, the first paper was autobiographical...pick one event, and write that event. With the peer responses I got on it, I was able to cut out a portion of the beginning, and get to the meat of it quicker..The first paper was easy...the second one? Little harder, but still easy..both papers have a good portion of my real life in them. I doubt that papers 3 and 4 will be quite that easy, but still.

Paper 2 I almost ended up using my own writings from several years ago on the Blog..even went so far as to ask the teacher how do I source that? Or rather, write that on the sources page..and was told that as they were my own words, I didn't need to.

And then ended up going in a different direction for Paper 2...:-P

Am glad that of all the classes I could have picked, I went to Comp first..

Using friends as peers - that is like way kewl. Oh, and from what you wrote sounds like you are in good company going back now. Reminds me of the first class I went back to - Socialogy. The Prof was a good ol'e boy (I mean like from Harlan County KY. We clicked, and he was most impressed with my view of how people are affected by the outcome of group dynamics both in a segragated and group setting - like families getting together during a funeral (don't ask). but this was in front of about 130 other members of the class. So it helped me get that boost to get it going for 2 years. Then... well lets just say relationship was paying for the college and it ended - oh well.

FANTASTIC! Like you needed any more reason to be going back. I tip my hat to you sir.

That's great! If you find out you *can* use friends for peer responses, I'd be happy to help out. ('Twas an education major lo those many years ago - also took AP composition.)

*nod* It is a very neat process..and yes, it's going great. I'll probably have to take sociology at some point..

And, will keep ya well noted for whatever Peer responses I may need...thanks for the tip of hat...now to just keep momentum going.
