Haven't watched this movie in a LONG time...and am remembering the period of time where I was following the making of this movie. Had not caught the comic, before I heard the movie was being made, and found a copy to read...and loved it. Then, Brandon Lee died on the set, making the movie his final film...I remember that it took them a long time to decide to put the movie out, and they finally did. I saw it at a Halloween showing, with friends at midnight. Preview came on for Highlander 3, and there was a LOT of rejoicing at that. Then, the screen went blank, and the movie opened...to much applause. A lot of the people there were Vampire Larpers...I'd gotten to go because I was good friends with one, and he knew how I was looking forward to seeing the movie.

Tis weird, watching now, as Brandon Lee crawls out of the grave in the movie...

Anyways. We watched the movie, and were duly impressed. I hooked several people onto the film, based on my reviews of it. During a really, REALLY dark period of my life, the Crow seemed to keep me sane, to a strange degree. Because of that dark period, I can never truly see the movie and not recall it..I remember dressing up as the Crow (talk about outfits you shouldn't do with certain body types), but, with the mythology of The Crow in the movies, it still works. :-) I scared a friend who saw me in the rearview mirror of her car, in full crow makeup.

Went with friends to see the sequel, "Crow: City of Angels", which was a horrid letdown. Went with the friend who got me the ticket to see the first one, and another friend. ALL THREE of us were wanting to leave, but thought the other two were enjoying it, so didn't make a move. Sat, almost the entire movie, saying "It CANNOT get worse", and the movie would.

Was still going to give Crow: Salvation a chance..but it was deemed a Straight-To-Video flick after one test viewing, where it was actually liked. I bought it when it came out, and ended up liking it. They didn't try to make it like the first one (A failing of the second movie), and did a pretty good job with it. Now, the plot remains the same...guy dies, comes back to avenge the death of a loved one, and there's not a lot you can change with that plot. I would still like to see a movie with a female crow...I think that would be a good change that could revitalize it...as it is, there is a fourth movie coming out, with David Boreanaz, as I recall, as a major villain. We'll see how interesting it is when it comes out.

Enough rambling.
