*heh* I feel like such the good geek..finally got "TAG: The Assassination Game" to burn as a DVD. TAG has always been an old fave...and, amusement, it has the girl from the "Alice in Wonderland" musical porn in a supporting role. :-P

Also, watched "Battleground" from "Nightmares and Dreamscapes" last night on TNT...did anyone else catch that? one of my fave early King stories, and I have to say, I was mostly happy with what they did with it. Watched part of the second ep, "Crouch End", and don't believe I ever read it, but the Cthulhu refs were mega fun.

And, the job stuff? NOT just me...Katmandu has called me a few times, as ACE is supposedly EAGER to call me and confirm me for the job, but somehow, it ain't happening. :-P I swear, it's gotta be something in the cosmos grooming me to be in the right place, at the right time.

I gotta tell ya, if you hadn't noticed from these entries, the cosmos has me going a little BF. :-)

loved the fact that battleground didn't have any words. worked bettter that way and how cool was the tiny commando. crouch end was eh...love claire forlani which is why i tuned in for it and it wasn't bad but i saw where it was going so beyond pretty girl and geek refs it was just ok.

*nod* Battleground, I was saying "Can they make this work with no words?" and was pleasantly surprised...Hurt was kinda cool, too. Don't know that they could have done this 10 years or more ago, and pulled it off well.

Crouch End..I wanted to like it, but aside from nifty references, I found it a tad predictable, and figure I should read the story to understand it better. :-)

*nod* It was neat...and, I kept doing the "Ok, so how are they going to bring this in line with the book??". I remember that as one of my favorite short stories, of course, it could be the whole "High School/Dark Mind" bit, :-P

Well, I just liked the ludicrousness of it...not knowing how and all that.

Favorite King Short Story? Wow...tough. Mist ALWAYS ranks high...as does Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, The Body (Think that was the original title), and several others..hmm....

Yeah, I ate up Different Seasons, where Shawshank and The Body come from. All four stories there are pretty damn cool.

Ya know, I never read "The Breathing Method", and "Apt Pupil" was a little too dark for me (This from the boy who adored "Rage" in The Bachman Books...I'm so fickle at times, bah.)

A little TOO DARK? Why do you read King anyway? I'm not sure Apt Pupil is more dark than the first half of The Stand. I thought Apt Pupil was riviting and disturbing, but the ending was a letdown.

The Breathing Method was kind of the weakest of the four, IMHO, but still quite fun. It's like a story inside a story inside a story, and what you REALLY want to know is more about the people telling the story. I'm not a solid enough fan to know if he used that setting elsewhere.

*heh* Exactly, if you've read Rage, you'll understand why I laugh at MYSELF over that comment.

And maybe the ending is why Apt Pupil lost me..as you're right, the first of "The Stand" is pretty dark.

I believe the point of "Umney's Last Case" is a story within a story where it self references (don't want to give much more away of what I've read about it, as it's next on Nighmares and Dreamscapes TV).

King has bemoaned that he's starting to repeat himself.

The Breathing Method goes three deep. As I recall, it's about a man remembering the times he used to go to "The Club" to tell stories, and one of the stories he (or someone else?) told. So, story 1 is the short story, story 2 is telling stories at the club, and story 3 is the actual story being told.

The club is a sort of King-style creepy-feeling subtly-supernatural gentleman's club kind of place. THAT is the place I want to know about. It seems like a lot of worldbuilding to just be used once. So I'm curious.
