Went to pop in a movie...and realize that I'm somehow missing the first disc of "Unbreakable". No clue where it's at, who might have it...so, this will have to be from memory.

Ok, I can't talk about this movie without first talking about Sixth Sense.

Sixth Sense was cute when I first saw it, but it was ruined for me, so the "Gotcha" at the end was known...I want to think I would have caught it based on the conversation in the restaurant, but who knows. I had one friend tell me that anyone who was in a marriage that was failing wouldn't have caught that, as it was a very real conversation. Maybe, maybe not, I don't know. After that, I saw Stir of Echoes, and thought it was a MUCH better movie.

Anyways, Unbreakable...I saw this one without a whole lot of hope, and once I did, I was WOWED. Didn't see it in the theatre, but I think I either borrowed it, or rented it. And then bought it shortly after.

Everyone loves the good and evil in a story. Me? I know comic books..I have read them for years (Dropping off drastically in the last several years), but this movie put its cameras to use as Comic Book Framing...so it looked, in many shots, like a comic book.

This movie had several neat hooks, the fact that if someone has a color pattern, they are a bigger "theme" within the comic...the fact that the lead characters discuss comic book mythology and trends. That the entire movie is essentially the birth of a superhero, and makes me curious what any potential sequel would do.

Acting. The actors had me believing that they were their characters, no small feat nowadays. Willis? Yeah, does a few of his trademarks, but he avoided others, and his interactions with the kid playing his son worked well. There was one scene that will always chill me, when watching the movie..the scene where his son is holding a gun on him, determined to prove that his father is a superhero. The slow reveal of just what Willis is capable of, and the final "twist", which I swear by all I know, I SHOULD have seen coming, but I was so engrossed in the rest of the film, that it didn't occur to me until a fraction of a second before the reveal. And once I saw it, I marveled (heh, Marvel) at how fun it was, and how I should have seen it. Jackson did a really good job at his role, as well. GO figure, he's Samuel L. Jackson. :-P

Who else liked this, and what was your take on it? One thing I didn't touch on was the music, which also fit the movie well..that swell of music at the end...Anyone else hoping for a sequel eventually? Or did you NOT like it? *heh* That's possible too.

Heh, I thought it was a good flick, but had nothing on Sixth Sense. I've been trying to remember that title Stir of Echoes that you recommended, tho, so thanks! I think I might rent that this weekend.

I love the color parts. Like the little girl's dress and Jackson's purple clothes.
