I am so teh tired.
Aug. 13th, 2006 05:42 pmBUSY weekend. And quiet, on the LJ front. This is what happens when all my friends are at the convention.
Bought a copy of Hex Hex Next, and was gifted Hex Hex, caught up on my comics from Aaron (And told him I wanted to strangle him at the end of the middle issue I was behind on), and he laughed quite a bit. We got to geek out talking comics and movies for a good while, his wife and I got to talk about school, comics, and marketing (Weird for me to be discussing marketing, but it worked). Geeking out with them was a recurring theme throughout the weekend.
Saw several things in the dealer's room I wanted, but only bought a few things..the Get Nifty card game, which I can't wait to look through and eventually play. Looney Labs stuff, where I got their promos this year, and was told that if I'm planning on getting a Pandora's Box set, I should do it within the next few days, as Wednesday or so, Kristen will be upping the price. Played a game called "Treehouse", which is the only pyramids game I think I could see myself buying. They described it as Fluxx-like.
Saw several friends, both LJ and Non, who were in attendance, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Am unsure if attendance was up or not, but it seemed that way.
Costumes, saw several good ones, some that made me think "What the hell were you thinking", and one Pikachu walking the dealer's room that made me wonder if that technically counts as Furry...probably not, but still caused a chuckle. Minor annoyance with the costuming? At one point, EVERYONE in a Star Wars outfit was near the dealer's room, getting their pictures taken by multiple people. This caused a stop in almost all traffic near the area. Was impressed to see one Aeris costume as I walked along, and then was told "Oh, you've not seen one before? You never visit Anime cons, do you?"
Donated ALL the cards I had to donate to Cardhalla (Which basically takes old CCG cards, or other cards, and builds a LARGE area of towers, and other structures, with them), and then got to watch some of the chaos as the towers were dismantled last night. Dismantling is people gathered around to throw coins at the towers. After 20 seconds, MOST were gone, with only a few left. After that, all change is collected, and I can't recall if it goes to a charity, or if it helps fund their efforts next year.
Heard rumors that Wizkids is about to go under, but that's rumor mill, so no idea if it is accurate or not.
Didn't get to see the Gamers: Dorkness Rising movie. They are hoping to have it out by Christmas, which isn't too far away, so that was kinda cool.
And then was told today that a friends father had passed away this morning. Will be going to the viewing as soon as I hear when it is.

Date: 2006-08-14 07:50 pm (UTC)Did you end up getting anything from the Dealer's Room? I saw a few things I thought you might be interested in, but not a whole lot that screamed "DESI MUST HAVE THIS".
Of course, I'm debating playing in the larps next year. Will have to see, I was having a bit much fun socializing this year.
So, when DOES Dearest get back?
