per_soloForgot to mention the follow up on yesterday's class exercise.
At the hotel, first thing I noticed was a lack of braille in the main entryways, for directions. After meeting with my group, I took first shot at the blindfold. And stood in one spot, was led around for a bit, noticed that I kept cocking my head wherever I heard sound. In the main foyer? That was a pain, as the sounds just kept coming, from all the groups, from the hotel attendees..from everywhere. Freaked one of the girls in my group out, as I heard something, and commented. She had made a simple gesture, and apparently wasn't expecting me to notice that. We had no means for us to be deaf, so later, took a turn in the wheelchair.
That was interesting, too. Wheeled around, found that the hotel is "ok" for wheelchairs, but not great. The wheelchair we got had no handles for someone else to help push you around, so the arms got a fun workout.
The blindfold, however, was what impressed on me a lot more. I had no idea where I was, it was interesting when we got onto the elevator. I'm not able to express it all well, so I'm guessing that's due to an inability to relate it.
I'd be tempted to try the blindfold thing for a day, sometime.
Today? Test, in about an hour and a half. Then, later tonight, gathering with a group of friends celebrating all the March birthdays. 29 of us total, descending like a horde on a restaurant.
Parents are going out of town with Sister and kids this weekend, so will have the house all to myself. Debated throwing a party, inviting people down, but this is a busy weekend for most people I know. *shrug* Life is, eh? :-)
