So, a quick review of Grindhouse will be below. First? Previews.

1408 - Yup, they have made a movie out of another Stephen King short story. And, better, it actually looks pretty decent. Starring John Cusack, it looks like one I'll want to see.

Pirates of the Carribean at Worlds End. Ok. I'm willing to retract my concerns at the end of the last movie, based on the trailer ALONE. It looks like it will NOT be Matrix Revolutions, and will actually be a good ending to the movie.

Ocean's 13 - Hmmm. Avoided the first two, and now I'm wanting to see them. Al Pacino is in this one, apparently as "the bad guy". Dealing with a Big Casino Heist (is that normal for these movies?), it looks to be fun.

The movie started out with a trailer for the fake movie "Machete", which was ok. Anytime to see Danny Trejo is fun. Then, after the trailer, we get to the Rodriguez segment, Planet Terror.

Planet Terror is about a small Teaxs town that is being overun with "Monsters". I'm not going into detail, obviously, but we'll just say that it's the best of the two stories.

Freddy Rodriguez (Best known to me as "Rico" from Six Feet Under") is a loner with a past that is never explained (leaving it to your imagination), Rose McGowan has been seen all over the previews, as a go-go dancer with a number of useless talents, and a gun for a leg. It's explained in the story.

The movie takes a lot of turns from classic horror films (and I thought Slither had a lot of fun with that), and there is plenty of blood and gore. Josh Brolin is in it, as is Jeff Fahey (of "The Lawnmower Man"), and I didn't actually recognize him.

Go see it!

There was then another round of trailers, for fake movies "Don't", and "Thanksgiving".

Then, we get to Tarantino's piece.

warning. This one takes a while to get to the point where you enjoy it. I've been told I need to see "Duel" (Yes, the movie nut has never seen Duel), but it starts out SLOW. Lots of conversation, and yes, it's Tarantino, but still, this felt..slower somehow.

Basics, Two different groups of women are stalked by a crazy man in a car. Kurt Russell does a good job playing a crazy psychopath. Rosario Dawson is pretty ok in it (though, I can no longer take her comments about her breasts in Clerks II seriously..I agree with Kevin Smith, she, um, knows her assets).

Now, one thing about both films..they both play with the concept of "missing reels", where the plot advances quickly due to things you don't see.

Now, you're NOT going to see oscar material here. But, for just pure cinema fun, this should pass your time well. Also, and I'd have to see more recent pictures, but boy does it seem Tarantino has put on weight.

Oh! The other trailer was for "Hot Fuzz", a funny looking copy movie by the team that brought us "Shaun of the Dead". I've got to see this when it comes out.

So, yeah, a good night at the movies.
