Random thoughts.
Jun. 20th, 2007 02:50 pmWar of the Worlds was better than I thought it would be. Of course, that required me to shut off parts of my brain, but I was aware of that going in. Watching Cruise try to play an "average joe" was stretching it for me. Him as a "deadbeat dad"? For some reason, that wasn't too much of a stretch for me.
King Kong? MUCH better than I'd have thought. Not just effects? Atmosphere, acting, even. And enough little touches and surprises...I'm on the second disc, and have been pleasantly surprised by it. Though, I'm not done with it yet, and the damned "Centiped" things are, um..freaking the hell out of me. Yeah, that's as good a word for it.
Picked up school books today. And, two lectures are already posted, for one of my classes, which both start on Monday.
I've somehow managed to accumulate several "other" books to read. One I want to finish quickly, another (The Zombie Survival Guide) for pure fun...little bit on that..it was written by Max Brooks, son of Mel, and he wrote a "sequel" of sorts, called World War Z. It's already been optioned for film, by Brad Pitt's company.
There is a person in the world I pity. And that bothers me. That bothers me a lot. I wish that they would quietly withdraw their weapons, and stop trying to harm others. Especially intentionally. We (Humanity in general) should know better.
Oh, and I received the paperwork to start helping Smirk and Dagger. Now to organize the papers by states, start entering them into a spreadsheet (I get to play with excel..there's a real first), and come up with a good plan. Hell, I don't think I need a good plan, I'd be fine with a mediocre plan that I can upgrade. :-P
And that's my day so far.
Crap. :-) I need to find my cheapie place online to order inks for my printer.
