Why do you feel dirty for the Springsteen?

I just always get annoyed at the pure "patriotism" that Springsteen elicits. He has a few good songs, but the image he had in the 80s always make me pause.

*heh* King Missile is always one that comes to mind as just "What the hell?", similar to the Jedi Drinking Song!
