Ok, so for the convention this year, I came up with the WACKY idea to compile Wilhelm screams, as our top 10 worst "#1".

It went over well, and the editor put it up on Youtube.

2 days ago, it had, I think, 3,000 hits.

Then, Digg.com did an article (I'm not sure if I'd heard or gone to digg.com before that)..

Now? The youtube site is sitting at 75,000 hits, and Snappygallbladder (the friend who posted and is a partner in crime) put up a FAQ due to the number of questions coming in on it.

Um...wow. 2 days, 73,000!

As Snappy says, all the clips are true...Wilhelm in every one. In a few, we had to bump up the sound just a tad, but yeah. One of the most fun is that we keep getting questions like "What is that clip at 1:36, with Han Solo and a stormtrooper falling off of a hut??"

Not sure the thank you got out before, but the clips were accumulated via my video collection, Snappy's, and Mobobocita's. :-P A LOT of time went into this one.

And now, back to my Algebra extra credit.

So tell me about the Wilhelm scream. What is it? Is it the same sound clip used over and over again? It certainly sounds that way :).

*nod* It's a scream that was used in a movie or two in the 50s...it was used a few times after that, but the sound editor for Star Wars made it a point to put it in all his movies. It became an in-joke/homage at that point, and has been used in a BUNCH of movies ever since..and, in tv shows. Wikipedia has a good listing of where all it has been (and that was my source for what I needed to find).

It was a lot of fun. :-)
