Done. The book is done...was I happy with the ending? Surprisingly, yes...I know a LOT of people who have been following the Dark Tower series for years (some a few years longer than I...I think I picked up the first book in 87), and I'm sure a lot of people won't be happy with the ending, but having them fresh in mind (I started rereading the series a year ago, about 2 months before Wolves of the Calla came out), the ending feels Right. Are there still questions? Sure...but I'm sure some of those have been answered in some of the peripheral books (Black House, Insomnia), so I'm content with the ending. Do I wish the series would go on? Oh hell yes...but it also feels good to be done with it.

Wow. No more obsessing over it...well, except maybe to plunk down the cash to get one of Michael Whelan's prints from it...the O/C in me really desires one...then again, I should save the money, and plunk down the $150 for a Improv workshop that comes up in a few months...work towards THAT goal..figure how to make O/C work for me..not that it works against me a whole lot, but it is a detriment to my thinking sometimes...hell, all I have to do is look at the 13 Long boxes of comic books to realize that..and the DVDs or CDs I don't watch/listen to. The stacks of video tapes of recorded television that I don't watch...or that I just put in for background noise.

I REALLY want to go into details on the book...but, as I've tried hooking a variety of people into it over the years, I won't. Suffice to say, I know many people who have tried to read the first book, and had a hard time getting into it, that they stopped...the second book, "Drawing of the Three" works much better for intro and pulling you in..the first book is good, but you have to dial your brain back a bit...not really go slower, but just pull back the reigns a little.

To Stephen King, whom I've been reading since I was in 7th grade, when I had to bring a permission slip in from my mother to borrow the book "Christine" from the Middle School Library (and she did with no problems), I say Thankya. Through the good books, and the bad, they've always been interesting reading...pushing the boundaries of what this humble wanna-be actor, and writer, has of an imagination.

If you've not read much of King, or have been turned off because of his "Horror King" title, I say give the Dark Tower books a chance..hell, start with The Eyes of the Dragon...which isn't King Horror at all...then realize that King wrote the story "The Body", which is what was turned into the movie "Stand By Me", and realize that he does more than horror...I don't think you'll be disappointed..anyone likely to be reading this LJ shouldn't be.

Congrats! I'm glad he finished it, and I'm glad the ending was satisfying.
