End of...I dunno what to call it.
Sep. 19th, 2008 11:43 amEarlier this week, Richard Wright passed away.
Some may know, others won't..Wright was the keyboardist for Pink Floyd.
I got to see Pink Floyd once, in 1994, in what is now for certain their final tour. They appeared once, at Live 8, after that..but, the actual touring and performing is done. And apparently really had been for some time, though fans always hoped there would be another.
That concert is one of those times I remember quite well...me and 3 friends (one of whom is still online, one effectively gone for good, and another who just disappeared) going to the show, buying items (I still have the remnant of the Logo keychain), and just having a good time...out of all of the Pink Floyd albums, the album they were touring for, The Division Bell, is probably my favorite..with "Wish you were Here" edging it out now and then.
The Division Bell was an album almost entirely about communication..in relationships, & within oneself..though it didn't quite have a theme like most of the other PF albums, it had one of the best feels, as far as the music. Also, amusingly, the title was given to the band by Douglas Adams.
Apparently, there was also a puzzle, never solved, called the Publius Enigma.

I'll be looking at that, but if it hasn't been solved in 14 years, well...I kinda doubt I'll solve it. :-)
I'd hoped that, eventually, I'd be able to go to another Pink Floyd concert...a little older, a little wiser..and without the chains that surround 1994 for me. And now that can't happen, but still, it's good to have that concert in my memory in the first place. And I still have a digitized version of the "premiere" concert that was broadcast on local radio..which had the songs, and interview clips with the band.
