So, friends abond and mycybertuffet are in town, so I was going to drive to the north side to stay at the Apt, and visit them with crysthewolf.
Got out late, as I'm still working on some last minute gifts, and the car first of all had a problem starting..it started ok, but the check engine, which I"m used to being solid, started blinking, and the engine was idling rough. That stopped after a minute, but still need to get it checked.
Started out, and was taking it slow. Slid in a few places, but was managable...I have been driving in Indiana for close to 20 years now. :-)
Further out I got from town, before hitting the interstate, the worse things got...and saw a few cars that had ditched. Not BEEN ditched, but as in drove into the ditch. Stopped at gas station, turned around to come back. Nice long line of cars...and then a funeral procession. As the procession stopped at one point, the cars in front of me were trying to stop, as was I...and I turned an uncontrolled slide into a semi-controlled slide into a church parking lot. Made it around the parking lot, back onto the road...and then, a block from the house, slid a good ways. Fortunately, traction control is a blessing..it was a little jarring when I hit the ONE dry spot at the stop sign (Traction control + my foot on the brake + slide - ICE = SCREECH). And made it back inside only a little nerve frazzled.
I said I can drive in ugly Indiana sleet/ice/snow crap...didn't say it doesn't take a toll on me. :-)
Anyways, if you're out today, or will be, BE careful. I remember spending one Christmas morning out at the emergency room (Grandpa's car..well, My Uncle's car, that my grandfather was driving, was hit on that day), and I think I prefer friends and family not to have to spend the day at a hospital.
Ok, that's all I got for this entry. Enjoy my new "Spaced" Icon. I think it sums a few things up lately. ;-) Eventually, will be going through and changing and adding icons. I've got space for..20 more, I think? Need some fandom ones...Torchwood, Maybe a Dr. Horrible...few other things I adore.
