I went through boxes/Totes at Mom and Dad's over the weekend...well, in once, I found an unlabeled cassette. I snagged, it figuring I could listen to it at some point, and figure what music I put on it..what stage and all that.
Imagine my surprise when I heard my own voice introduce the tape...from November 1985. Apparently, I was having a show choir concert recorded on cassette...hearing this is kinda..Weird. Almost like physically moving back in time. The scarier part? As I'm listening to the songs, I find myself singing along with them..crap I haven't heard or thought of in 20 years, likely.
This would be a cassette that cannot be converted...the audio quality is too low, and I'm not sure, if I were to try, if I could get the quality up past the silent spots..still, then again, it might...I'm just not sure I should convert something like that. I've been accused of living in the past before, and yeah, at times it's been an issue..one that I've tried to get past. Some days, as always, are better than others. But, how much of this type of stuff should one hold onto? Hell, I'm partially amazed that the tape has survived...the Hank Williams Jr. tape I've had for a long time (And, was kept up in my closet for most moves), no longer will move when the tape hits a certain spot. *shrug* That one I'd actually like to get on CD sometime...who'd a thunk..me, a Hank Jr. fan (Well, for one album only..Montana Cafe).
Still..I wonder how many more cassettes I've got squirreled away, and how many of them are from when I was in Middle/High school..
And, maybe the tape is there to prove that, at least during Middle School, my schools weren't as bad as I thought. Then again, that could just mean it didn't get bad til I was in High School...and, the names that jump out at me from there are rough at times.
