Job Fair..
Aug. 10th, 2005 04:53 pmWell, went to what was purporting to be a career fair..and didn't find out til later that, I think, there was another one...and that other one may have been more to my liking..FEH...why have two of these fucking things on the same day, in locations that are so close to one another?
Ended up handing out 3 resumes, and talking to a rep from Comcast on my previously submitted resume...it is in process, much as RC was telling me (Not that I doubted him, but man, I'm doing the "AHHHHH" gig), and 2 staffing companies, and then one other...
The one I found really bugged me...hell, there was a guy there in a WIFE BEATER! WHo are you trying to appeal to? Then again, there were two trucking companies there...
Oh, and Tech Classes and Universities and such like that...talked to one of them, but kinda need cash before I pursue any of that...
And the waiting game continues.

Wifebeater - hmmm
Date: 2005-08-11 06:08 am (UTC)I was curious - was the rep with long black hair? If so, she is our HR Manager. It does take awhile. Just for an inhouse transfer - it took them about 2 months to get all the stuff together. I applied sometime around MLK day, and was in the spot March 14th to the day. I totally understand about those moments when you go - why is it so hard to do these things that are supposed to help you? I went to two 'job fairs' during my "extended vacation" of 2 years. This was the case when I went down with a friend, paid 10 bucks for parking, walked 5 city blocks in the heat of downtown Cincinnati (there is no air in the summer, it just go straight up like a stove pipe - with the flue closed). Walked around the exhibits and gave out my card/resume to a couple of folks - but mostly had people give me cards to hand out to other folks.. Now there was that prison job that started to look kinda good I remember, Clean uniforms - 3 square meals - all the mace I could carry.. and loads of business ops just waiting beyond those blacked gates. WOOHOO!.... Oh, wait - I am supposed to be cheering you up or something..
C, in all honesty - that job will come, but be open for other ops that you might not be looking into at this moment. I mean it man, take a look at all the want ads - not just the IT jobs. I have not talked with you since really the convention, and I know it hit you hard - but you are the type of people that just will thrive once that current starts to flow again. I am rambling again - but just know my heart is in the right place and you do mean a lot to me, nuff' said?
If I hear anything - will let you know about the Com job.
BIG HUG,
RC

Date: 2005-08-11 01:04 pm (UTC)And, well, I'm watching Gilmore Girls now. :-) It's stressful, but I'm trying to find my way around the stress.
We all should do dinner sometime. Or just hang out...Then again, with schedules as they are, life is pretty chaotic for all...maybe after Gencon gets done and over with.
Thanks...I do appreciate all you're doing. Actually, I appreciate that all my friends are trying to keep me sane. :-)
And no worries...as soon as I started reading the anonymous post, I knew it was from you. Yup, the woman you describe sounds like the one I talked to. She mentioned the resumes all going North, and that people should start getting calls in a week or so.
