Flying...

So, tomorrow I'm flying out to DC for 15 minutes, then hopping a plane to Canada.

No, I'm not leaving for good. :-) Tempting as it may be when we have a president who says that God told him to strike at Al Qaeda, then to strike at Saddam...of course, maybe I'm just jealous that God doesn't talk to ME. :-P

I'm going to a wedding with Sa...her hubby decided he didn't want to go, so I got tapped. And, as she's footing the bill (which makes me feel bad), I said sure...considering I've never been before, it will be interesting.

Of course, this brings up the normal fears...flying, in general...hassles with the people who think they're protecting our country, being another...but, I WILL NOT let that stop me from having a good time.

So, the plan is to get out to Canada sometime tomorrow afternoon...and, go to a Second City show that evening...and then to hit the CN tower some time later in the weekend. And, attend the wedding Saturday evening.

Dunno what else we'll be able to do while out there...seems that time will be a premium...wanted to look for a DVD while out there, as it's only (ONLY) available in Canada, but considering I can't afford it, the most I'd do is look at it and go "oooh...shiny"

Have what i need to get back into the states...Drivers License, and Birth Certificate...bags are almost fully packed...must remember smart things..you know, Toothpaste, Deoderant...dunno if you can pack a razor into Carry On now...hmmm..might just have to buy a cheapie razor at the hotel.

So, if I don't post for several days (starting tonite), don't be surprised...and, I wonder what I'll miss while I'm out...

That there, kids, would be one of my hang ups (Not quite obsession...can't think of the Psych term), with travelling...the fear that while I'm gone, something is going to happen. Have had that one a long time..ah well.

Have fun while I'm out...just not TOO much fun, eh? :-)

Really cool that you get to go! Have a good time. Is the word you're looking for "phobia?" I didn't know you were afraid to travel, just afraid to fly. Hey, live a little. Seeing new places is fun.

You can bring a safety razor. The restriction was only ever on old-style razor blades, I believe.

Double-check what you need to get back into the US, if you haven't already. I traveled to Canada last year on a driver's license and a birth certificate, and I got a warning that this wasn't always going to be sufficient. The US, not Canada, has/had plans in place to require a passport to reenter the country.

Echo, I had heard the same thing, but what I heard was that it would be beginning of next year that you would need a passport in order to get in/out.

Good advice to know about...And it's a great idea to have you. You never know when something unexpected might come up. Besides that, if you're intrested in our next trip abroad, we're trying to muster up interested parties...

Where are you planning to go, just out of curiosity?

We're looking at 2007... Itinerary is still to be decided. Bear wants to do Prague. Powerstar has talked about Germany. I wouldn't mind going back to France or Italy... We're talking about possibly getting a Eurorail pass and just back-packing it... Thought it would be a great adventure this way. :)

OK, GOOD. I was told the same thing a year ago, so I was nervous. It must've been either pushed out or overstated then.

You might want to check the TSA website

I had heard, not sure where though - that changes have been put into place so like a pair of safety scissors and the like can now be brought on board with you. They have a list, and might not be a bad thang to check it out.

Enjoy yourself - and you stop worring about what other people are doing for you darling. It is times like these that cause us to worry about our ability to take care of those needs, but you know if your friends thought you were mooching - I am sure if SA is anything like your other friends - that would be stopped in its tracks. Obviously the cost is already been thought out, and just because husband was not going - the cost was already figured out. So Shush Penfold! ;-)

More when you get back.

Travel well, and if you get a chance - have a good porter or local favorite while you are abroad (Does Canada count as being abroad?).

Hugs,
Tony

My spouse works for an airline, granted his flight would have been free and Per's cost us...it's aminor amount compared to a real ticket and hotel? I'd have to have one for me, he's not an additional cost.

And he's giving me company because I don't like to travel alone, so I'm good with the cost.

He's house sitting/dog sitting for us next weekend too. He's paying for it, he just doesn't see it.

BOYS.

See, that is what I am talking about. Chris is not easy to help at times - but with friends like you with him, he will do fine.

Hope the wedding and the trip go well - and both of ya have a grand time.

Take care,
Tony

Well there are those times... anyway we will leave that for another day. Yep recovery is going well - my forced vacation is going to be coming to end sooner than I would like - but will be good to get back to regular routine. See the doc tomorrow and he will probably sign me back to go to work on Monday.

I am sure you will be able to sleep on the plane - especially if you are tired from waiting in line in DC.

Anyway - being you will not be seeing this for 3 days.. Hope the trip went well, you met some interesting friendly people and come back to us safe and sound.

Later,
Tony

Have a good time Per. Don't worry about anything while you're away and have a good time. Let us know what your adventures in Canada are like. We've never been there before (although want to make it up there sometime).
