Well, I decided to do a test tonite...my DVD player has been flakey for a while...to the degree that I figured the DVD player was crapping out on me, and I'd need a new one...
Well, I have a DVD player that was stopping playing Dual Layer discs...and, it seemed completely hit or miss on which ones it would play or not...
Well, after watching a friends copy of Ring 2 (Which was eh as a movie...), I decided to look up my player...
When I got it, I set it for region-free...it was a nice, snazzy player that many friends had chipped in on to get me...well, I decided to set it back to just Region 1, and then seeing if it would play one of the discs it had problems with before...
Guess what? It works JUST fine now..so, it's not that it has a problem with DL discs, it's that it has problems doing such while set to another region..or rather, it's more likely that the discs themselves are coded to only play in Region One players...
FEH.
But, at least that answers that question, and it doesn't appear that one of my first expenses (or an X-mas gift) will need to be a DVD player. :-)
Yay on that.
