Yeah, temp house says that, since I'm not still on that team, they can't submit the phone bill as an expense report to cover the cost.

They are going to TRY to see if they can add a buck or two for a week or so to my hourly for the Anthem job, but there's no guarantee on that.

I'm doing deep breathing, because if I don't, then I WILL plan on doing something ultimately stupid, pointless , and that would hurt me in the long run. I don't like the feeling of me or my friends being taken advantage of, and I especially don't like feeling as if I'm being punished by a company that is supposed to be helping me, because I am not interested in the job they want me to do that I'm not that suited for.

FEH!

If they can't solve this satisfactorily, you all will know the name of said company, so that I can point people away...there are dozens of temp houses here in this state...why point my friends to them?

This isn't even my problem, and I'm seething from here.

There's one answer to this: unacceptable. They should have a fucking contract with these fucking losers that covers this situation. I do not for a minute believe that you are the first person to have this happen. This is not your problem. This is their problem. And they'd better have a plan for how to reimburse you.

Didn't the actual company say they'd take care of you? Could you call THEM directly?

Dude,

How is responsible for billing the client? They are. Who is responsible for paying you for your time and expenses? They are. They are the ones in the middle. They need to pay you and then figure out how to charge it back tot he customer. If they cannot recoup the cost, then they need to write it off as a business expense, not you. And, if they DO write it off, they will know to write in a better clause into their next contract.

Mind if I ask, WHO are you working through? You can email me if you want to keep it private. I am just curious.

Peace,

Bear

I know them, but I would not call them good or bad. They are usually fair. Call them back and tell them they need to pay you. They are large enuff to do that. It is their responsibility to charge it back to the customer.

Bear is absolutely right. I've worked for enough companies who put themselves in the middle (Ad Agencies, Car companies and the like) connecting the end users and the product producers and the temp company needs to be reimbursing you and charging it to their client. If their client is a big one, they most certainly do have a way to charge them for incidental expenses like your cell time. I'd suggest that you provide them with a letter requesting and a copy of your cell phone bill with the charges highlighted.

Personally, I'm a damn the consequences full speed ahead kinda gal, so I'd tell you to insist on payment and not worry about pissing them off... But my way is often far from the best :) In light of that I'd still say that you should insist and take it up the chain if necessary because, echo is right too, you won't be the only one this has happened to. And they DO have a system in place for rectifying these things. AND if you run over or are charged extra for the time it takes you to sort out the situation with them, submit a bill for that too next month.

Is this a local phone call (the one to the company you did the work for)? If so, find somebody (like your parents) with a land line and call them. If there's an 800 number, call them.

But, really, it's the temp agency's problem. My head is still spinning that you were blown off like that. And, to be honest, I'm not sure you should think they're doing you such a huge favor to get you this Anthem job. Anthem liked you; Tek Systems is just the middleman, and they want your fee.
