I am most unamused.
Dec. 1st, 2005 04:42 pmYeah, temp house says that, since I'm not still on that team, they can't submit the phone bill as an expense report to cover the cost.
They are going to TRY to see if they can add a buck or two for a week or so to my hourly for the Anthem job, but there's no guarantee on that.
I'm doing deep breathing, because if I don't, then I WILL plan on doing something ultimately stupid, pointless , and that would hurt me in the long run. I don't like the feeling of me or my friends being taken advantage of, and I especially don't like feeling as if I'm being punished by a company that is supposed to be helping me, because I am not interested in the job they want me to do that I'm not that suited for.
FEH!
If they can't solve this satisfactorily, you all will know the name of said company, so that I can point people away...there are dozens of temp houses here in this state...why point my friends to them?

Date: 2005-12-01 10:22 pm (UTC)There's one answer to this: unacceptable. They should have a fucking contract with these fucking losers that covers this situation. I do not for a minute believe that you are the first person to have this happen. This is not your problem. This is their problem. And they'd better have a plan for how to reimburse you.
Didn't the actual company say they'd take care of you? Could you call THEM directly?

Date: 2005-12-02 12:15 am (UTC)Depending on the next response (I've said as much, in a polite manner, in regards to this not being a fair solution), we'll see what happens...if I can get Financial Aid to cover me living where I"m at, and going to school and such, then the situation with this job changes...in short, I'll see what happens next.
And yeah, I'm trying to find a contact number for the person I dealt with for the job...I've got his number, but am dangerously close on minutes this month, and cannot contact him via the phone.
My Temp company (who I'll name in the next response to Bear..no need to keep it secret at this stage) said they'd take care of me, however, that was when they were thinking I'd be willing to do more jobs like this. Today, I politely informed my contact that this was yet more reason to point me to not take more jobs like this, if they could not take care of me.
I'm losing the point of rational thought...so, am likely not explaining too well. And, well, I have school worries for tomorrow.
I should go to bed in an hour or so...argh.

Date: 2005-12-02 09:57 pm (UTC)But, really, it's the temp agency's problem. My head is still spinning that you were blown off like that. And, to be honest, I'm not sure you should think they're doing you such a huge favor to get you this Anthem job. Anthem liked you; Tek Systems is just the middleman, and they want your fee.

Date: 2005-12-02 10:03 pm (UTC)Right now, I'm playing politic...and have the phone number of the guy I was working with (the team lead) on the Texas gig...I'll cut out the middleman if I'm not happy, and talk to Him, and ask him if that's how they do business...
I'm still thinking they're just pissy cause I didn't want to do that job, as they stated, full time, but it actually being part time. Feh. :-)

Date: 2005-12-01 11:00 pm (UTC)How is responsible for billing the client? They are. Who is responsible for paying you for your time and expenses? They are. They are the ones in the middle. They need to pay you and then figure out how to charge it back tot he customer. If they cannot recoup the cost, then they need to write it off as a business expense, not you. And, if they DO write it off, they will know to write in a better clause into their next contract.
Mind if I ask, WHO are you working through? You can email me if you want to keep it private. I am just curious.
Peace,
Bear

Date: 2005-12-02 05:59 am (UTC)Personally, I'm a damn the consequences full speed ahead kinda gal, so I'd tell you to insist on payment and not worry about pissing them off... But my way is often far from the best :) In light of that I'd still say that you should insist and take it up the chain if necessary because, echo is right too, you won't be the only one this has happened to. And they DO have a system in place for rectifying these things. AND if you run over or are charged extra for the time it takes you to sort out the situation with them, submit a bill for that too next month.
