Feb. 28th, 2006 12:37 pmThanks to WickedSin, my brain recently has turned back to the film "Dog Day Afternoon".
Anyone who has seen it, loved it or hated it, chime in with your thoughts...remember, Miss Sin hasn't seen it, so potential spoilers should be avoided.
I first saw this movie...man, I want to think I was in Middle School...never understood it TOO well, until after High School when I watched it...basic story, two men go to rob a bank, and end up in an all day stand-off (or was it several days? Want to think it was just one...). Anyways, Al Pacino, and one of the roles by Jon Cazale (both starred together in The Godfather I and II...Cazale as Fredo), and their working chemistry was something to behold...both very good actors in that time.
Anyways, I find myself wanting to see it again..and apparently, there has just been released a 2 disc version...which will likely go on my amazon wishlist...
The reason Miss Sin made me think of it..it's on her Netflix wishlist...which suprised me, as that's not one that you normally see people thinking to just go watch (unless you're a freak like me)...the reason?
Swordfish. The movie with John Travolta...That one I saw in the theatre...and, in the opening sequence, it has Travolta talking about Dog Day Afternoon..in the theatre, sitting next to Drew, I remember just staring in awe at the screen..it was referencing an older movie, and one that I knew fairly well...and it was making perfect sense what Travolta's character was saying...it all tied together.
Then again, I'm one of the "l33t" who remembers various pieces of movies for years...and, when I start to misremember, will go "Was I right?", and go check IMDB, thus reinforcing it..
Too bad that's not a marketable skill...on the Job Poll not long ago, one of the ideas was to study films...and, if I could find out how to make enough to pay bills and live while having something to do with films as a living, I'd do it..unfortunately, I've not yet found a way to do that. :-P
Anyways, that was the run of the mind this afternoon.

Date: 2006-03-02 02:21 pm (UTC)Swordfish had some moments where you're like "Oh, come ON, that is so over the top", but it had other moments that were like "I should have seen that coming"
No other word on the monitor...call Radio Shack and ask them what to do with a dead monitor, I've never heard back from others.
