Ok...no clue...
Oct. 30th, 2003 09:29 pmOk. I'm watching CSI tonite...they are doing an episode on "Furries".
You may not have heard of furries..then again, most of my friends have...it's a convention sub culture I don't understand, and likely never will...no desire.
Furries enjoy dressing up as anthropomorphic animals...and some enjoy sex as anthropomorphic animals...I just...gah...don't understand. Never have.
Some just enjoy the "little" funs, like Cat ears, tails, like that...others dress up like that Bear mascot you had at school...full costume, full costume heat, all that...
I'm so baffled, I'm not even able to string together thoughts in a way...
Yeah, I've seen some pretty weird pieces of fandom...ya know, once you can deal with the Klingons at any conventions, you can handle just about anything. At Gencon this year, I saw a lot of cool, interesting costumes. Why do those not have much effect, but Furries do? I mean, I don't "hate" or "despise" furries, but it is an aspect of fandom that truly baffles me.
And I'm surprised I haven't heard the Furrie community screaming in advance about this episode...you'd think they'd have a problem with this.
http://www.somethingpositive.net has had a few strips dealing with furries...Milholland comes down pretty hard on them and I can understand his dislike..but, just do a web search..you should find more info on it. Much more than I'm going to give, or research, myself.
