Ok...I should review the movie, since I saw it Saturday.

First, I've not read the book...and, I understand there are quite a few differences...however, the book was written in 81, and took place in 98.

This one is obviously set further up the timeline...and deal with England having become a Fascist state...

Yes, there are jabs at the United States, and where it is going...however, that doesn't detract a whole lot from the story.

Basic...V is a vigilante who is trying to wake the people up to the fact that the government is corrupt...a prime quote is along the lines of "People shouldn't be afraid of their government..Governments should be afraid of their people"..

As with any review I give, I'll say very little, as I don't want to spoil people.

Quick thoughts as they come..forgive the nature of this..

Hugo Weaving - DAMN...Suspension of Disbelief points to him being in costume and mask the entire time...only a few times did I hear "Mr Anderson" at the end of a sentence..not quite as bad as hearing the robots in Phantom Menace saying "By Your Command", but still..but, with the lines he had, he pulled it off.

Natalie Portman - I'm sorry..yes, this redeemed her ever so little for the Star Wars movies, but I never truly believed I was watching "Evey", but was watching Natalie Portman acting...sad, as I think she CAN act, but I hate to think that her pinnacle was "The Professional"...she didn't detract, but I didn't feel she added much..

John Hurt - I'm always tickled when I see John Hurt in a film...most think of him from Alien, or The Elephant Man..I always see him first in my mind from "Frankenstein Unbound"...either way, when I see him, I always think he's gonna have an interesting role, and this was no exception...a little cookie cutterish, but he did good.

The Plot - I liked it..then again, I'm cynical, and could see that happening in the future.

The Sets - Nice, for the most part...run down sections looked run down...although, it didn't look TOO futuristic..and I can't decide if that's good or bad...

The Music - NICE. I liked the score, mixed with classical pieces, and other bits of the soundtrack...

FX - Ok, a few looked cheesy, but overall? Good.

Go see it! Form your own opinions...this is one I want to know what others think...just, be mindful of the fact that others may not have seen it yet.
