The Aristocrats.
Apr. 5th, 2006 02:51 pmReview of "The Aristocrats", the worlds "dirtiest" joke.
I've heard that people have turned this DVD off, because they were so disgusted, but seriously? They're ONLY words.
The setup is that this isn't really a joke at all, more of Improv..where a comedian has the setup, which is a guy trying to sell an act to a talent agent...the entire middle is improv, and the punchline is "The Aristocrats", generally as what the name of the act is.
MANY comedians are lined up in this documentary to tell their style/take on the joke.
I'm not quite like the comedian in the movie who is saying it's a stupid joke, and stupid of them to be doing a docu on it, but I'm also not the "Oh, this is the greatest thing in the world". It merely is dozens of comedians telling their version. Carlin, Robin Williams, Sarah Silverman, Taylor Negron, Martin Mull, and many others, both old and new..
To me, it's not that bad, as I grew up with stand-up comics...to anyone who has only seen comedians on TV shows? I can see where they might freak a little at it.
In short, watch it..if the first 20 minutes don't drive you away? I wonder at your opinion of it...me? When all is said and done, I like it...original idea, pushes the bounds of taste in most people, worth at least a borrow from the library. But, be warned, it may well NOT be your cup of tea. :-)
