May. 28th, 2006 10:44 amOk...am back from Marcon!
Which, oh my god, was a LOT of fun...didn't stay late Friday, which bummed me (one of our group wanted to go back to Rob's, as he was feeling a migraine coming on).
Saturday, we set up our table, put pictures up, flyers out, the cheap, horrible DVDs that Rob had gotten, and a whole crapload of books and other stuff that I had donated to the cause...after a BIG case of books and assorted other crap were mostly gone, and it was 7:00, we took the stuff down, and realized that we had handed out every single flyer we had. Bad food was had at various points, and I wandered the dealer's room a few times, but there was nothing there that I HAD to have.
Indyellen was kind enough to give me her copy of "The Last Hero On Earth", and I was perturbed that I never got the chance to run into FilkerTom..unfortunately, when the convention passes quickly, that happens..
Last night was a party on one of the floors...hanging out with "Bar Fleet", and consuming some alcohol...and hanging out with some of the people I don't nearly get to hang out with enough..chatting, watching as some of them tried to hook me up with various girls there (shakes head). And seeing yet more people I hadn't seen in a while..two of them regulars are Incon...and, hearing again that a guy who had come into some money had made a donation to the convention..both Marcon and Incon. Wow.
Lots of insanity, lots of going here and there, LOTS of people at the booth who seemed interested...we'll hope this turns into a better outcome for Incon..and, if so, this may have to become a standard thing for the convention to do...go to other cons, get a booth...and pimp.
Tom...the CD was listened to a few times on the way home...Very nice. :-) I'll hope to get to talk to you more at Incon.
So, did I miss anything while out?

Date: 2006-05-29 02:16 am (UTC)However, dinner at InCon to catch up is a must.
How was the show for you? I gathered that the Premiere party was good, from the word of mouth I heard. And, while we were stuck waiting in the Pre-Reg line, Luke ended up singing...that was kinda cute. I even managed to talk to Andrea for a few minutes. :-)

Date: 2006-05-29 05:18 pm (UTC)On the con related stuff, I have already gotten two of the conventions doing an ad swap for next year - went around to many, many of the dealers and gave them business cards and flyers. I too agree that we need some contingent to setup and promote InCon at the various and wonderful regional conventions and YOU GUYS ROCK!!!! btw. Sheer GENIUS. Adrian from GenCon had mentioned that GenCon makes sures to have a presence at about 10 smaller gaming trade shows/cons to promote them and they get about a 30% to 40% return on investment. So yes, big item on my agenda for next year.
Thanks again for hanging out, it was very nice to chat a while before someone gave me what ever that was that I drank and released that other fellow... I will probably be a little more leary of Romulans bearing gifts next time. (But this fellow was in a barfleet uniform, very odd).
BIg Hugs,
Tony

Date: 2006-05-29 05:34 pm (UTC)Sweet...congrats on the ad-swapping, and the donation. I already see ways that the setup for the booth can be done better (though, not by much, we had a pretty good thing going), but I think the book giveaways and VHS and all that helped...so, maybe seek donations from the membership, books they don't want, or need to go into the collection.
No problem on hanging out, it was quite fun...and, the Barfleet Jester (Barrine) was having fun with us..will have to see if he uses that outfit at Incon.
*hugs back* Lots of fun. :-)
