Ok, quick shotgun updates.

I'd say 90% of the Apt. is packed...

American Funds has decided not to go with me.

The interview with IUPUI felt good today. I should know within two days.

I apparently screwed up the L Word disc I'm attempting to make...back to the old drawing board.

I'm VERY tired.

Am currently drawing up my plan of attack for living with folks. Really? I don't want to be there more than two months. Need to see, since Indiana has this glut of houses for sale due to many foreclosures...now might just be the best time to get a house, cheap, to work on.

Have no idea how often I'll be online after the 1st. Parents are on AOL, and if I manage to talk them into broadband, will need to locate a router, and then run it back to the room.

My bedroom down there has...I think they said Pooh Bear trim..hmmm...will have to take pictures.

And really, that's it for now. Will post more if I think of it later.

*snicker* My dad's office at his house has...Sesame Street curtains. He never changed them from when my sister and I lived in the room over 20 years ago.

*confused* Do you have savings for a downpayment on a house? Do you hope to get a loan that doesn't require a downpayment? A cheap house will likely be a smaller payment for more (albeit semi-functional) space, but it's also going to limit your freedom; you'll have to sell it before you can move, which doesn't always happen immediately, and if you run out of money you face foreclosure. Then again, if you have the sweat to put into fixing it up, it could be a *sweet* investment. Just surprised you're thinking about buying a home.

Well, I know that you can get loans at 5%, 10%, and 20%. Anything less than 20% will incur an extra mortage insurance monthly charge. A lot of people seem to freak out about this and think they need 20% to buy a home, but even with the insurance payment, my mortgage was still WAY less than an equivalent rental would be. I don't know if there are additional penalties for a 5% downpayment.

The guy who bought my condo bought it with a special low-income first-home program. I've also heard of 0% downpayment mortgages, but I'm sure they come with ugly penalities. Still, if your life turns up, you can always refinance, so it really depends on what the payment would look like. If you're serious, you might want to look into first-home programs and other specialized mortgages.

I like owning a home.
