Ok, so have gone through two of my lectures, and got talked by my advisor into dropping a class, and going for one that fits my goals. I believe his comment was "That's a lot of money to spend on a class that's not going to get you where you're going". So, if I turn the cert into a degree, THEN I'll take the fun, cool electives. For now, it's another class.

Have to go look for a few books today, and then if I can't find them, look online. Have ONE book, the IUPUI Spanish book, that is $120!!! $120 for a freakin' book!

Fortunately, I think I can swing that in a few days.

So, I've watched my lectures that are posted (and had my orientation yesterday), so I'm caught up with this week's classes. Will still want to watch the lectures again, but today's goal is to go to Half Price, and see if I can find my books. After taking a shower, and getting some breakfast.

Oh, wedding yesterday was cute. I'm not sure I ever pictured my friend from HS getting married, but it was a very nice outdoor ceremony, at Holiday Park, and I saw a few people I hadn't5 seen in years. It was a Handfasting/Ring exchange, with some of the, as he put it "more mystical aspects" toned down, since his family was there, and there were several catholic relatives in attendance. It was still nice. Rain started right after the ceremony.

You're changing your goal to a cert? A cert in what?

Event Management. No psychology. Now, if after seeing if EM works well for me, I decide to continue pursuing a full degree in it, then I have that option, but for now, the Cert so I can transition out of IT is a prime goal.

Am already liking the two lectures I've seen regarding EM. :-)

I think that's a fantastic goal. Once you have the cert, can you apply it toward a degree in a couple of years? That would be the ideal in flexibility.

In theory, yeah. But, my advisor commented that after I get the cert, I'll want to make that decision, so my brain doesn't lose any of the information in the interim between that.

Well, that's fair to a point. But I think an advisor just sees a lot of people leave and not come back. I left school for two years before coming back, and -- other than the math :-p -- I didn't have any trouble getting back into it.

*nod* He's got a fair point, but that's also part of why I want the cert and a transition to doing this as a job.

As is, the Spanish instructor made a comment about the number of online students who drop the courses...that the percentage was high. I asked him if he had a specific number, and he just smiled and said "I'll just say that's it is high".

To be honest, I think I'd have trouble with online courses. I really need to have a lecture I'm involved in, where I can ask questions and whatnot.

I also suck at languages, so there you go.
