More confessions of the media mind..
Apr. 27th, 2004 11:29 pmSo, I'm reading up on Kill Bill Volume 1, and see that the character of Gogo was cast because Tarantino saw her in the movie "Battle Royale". So, now I must find/see this movie.
All reviews say that this is a very bloody movie...basic plot...in the "future", Japanese schools are running amok. In order to curb this, one class of 9th graders is chosen at random, dropped on an Island, and told that only one of them can survive. Each student gets a pack that has various items in them, including weapons...like Baseball bats, Knives, one has a GPS tracker, and several have guns.
Wow...interesting premise...sure it's been done before, but I've not heard of it...based on a kick ass Manga.
So, after doing my research, I find that the best one I can likely get is a Region 3 "Tartan" edition...which I'm busily looking for, on a cheap shoestring. :-)
Tagline of the film - "Could you kill your best friend?"
This brings up all sorts of thoughts of my fun life in High School...and the possibilities that a movie premise like this proposes...
The movie has never been released in the States...there is a good FAQ question/answer on it at http://www.battleroyalefilm.net I'd suggest going there for more information on it than my meager mind will supply at this point.
Now...to find it. I'm recuctant to go through E-bay, tho that is likely the best place for it...hmmm...what to do.
