Ah, rainy dreary election day. :-) Let's hope that isn't indicative of how things will go.

Yesterday, someone said to remember that today is election day. My auto quip back was "Yes, please remember to have your pet spayed or neutered", which got a chuckle, but really, I go back and forth on whether voting is truly worth it.

Don't get me wrong, so far as I can remember, I've voted in every election I've been eligible to vote in. But, nowadays, here in my state, it seems pointless. Nothing changes.

Years ago, in my "rants" list (which later became my weblog, then Livejournal), I ranted about the clinton debacle. That if it were a republican president, then the Dems would be baying for blood, and the repubs would be saying the president was being hounded. And, sure as shit, that's exactly what's happening. These people, for the most part, are idiots, out of touch with their constituencies, and wanting just to have power for the sake of power.

So, whereas I think it would be grand to have democratic control of the house and senate, I don't think it changes a single thing for us, individually, anymore.

Yes, that may be rampant cynicism that is current in my life, but I look back, and can't see a single thing my single, solitary vote does to change anything. Aside from breast-beating if the party I happen to vote for gets elected.

I wanted to go off the other night, at dinner. A guy who I tend to be middle of the road on had said that he was voting republican, across the board, because of John Kerry's comment. That irritated me. Not due to any issues of a particular candidate in the local races, but because John Kerry was dumb enough to talk, to "botch a joke", and to come off as elitist as he did during the presidential election.

*shakes head* Just ridiculous. Almost to the point of making me incoherent. :-)

So, today is work, when 90% of the building has the day off. That should be ok.

Am going to fall way behind in Nano this year. I'll write when I can, but I have a few other things taking priority. Got an 80% on my test last night, have Spanish homework due tomorrow by midnight that I'll be finishing tonite, so I can go be social tomorrow. In addition to several "small" things I have going on/hoping for.

How is your day going so far? Quiet? OMG busy?
