A Mandate?
Nov. 8th, 2006 10:53 amOk. So, the House has gone democratic, with the jury still out (PUN intended) on the Senate.
I hope the Democrats bear in mind that the whole reason they got in was not due to their own merits, but due to massive dissatisfaction with the current group running things. That, unless they make changes, they won't be the "party in power" for long.
Dissatisfied voters put them in charge. That same group can remove them from holding the reins.
Am I still cynical? Hell yes. Bill Hicks said it best,
"I'll show you politics in America right here, 'I believe the puppet on the right shares my beliefs.' 'Well, I believe the puppet on the left is more to my liking.' Hey, wait a minute, there's one guy holding up both puppets! 'Go back to bed, America, your government is in control. Here's Love Connection, watch this and get fat and stupid. By the way, keep drinking beer.'"
So glad I can put in "Bill hicks" and Puppet into Google, and find that quote. :-P

So, yeah, there's light at the end of the tunnel (at the end of several, both macro and micro scale), but I can't bring myself to be elated at a process that seems as broken as it has ever been.
