That time of year again, already? Wow.
Nov. 29th, 2006 07:39 pmThis is what happens when you lose memory of a portion of your year.
Below is the "Holiday Wish" meme. I'll let it explain itself, after I get the obligatory entry out of the way. :-)
So, today was the first day of real, true chosen unemployment. *shrug* What did I do?
Slept in a little, did two Spanish assignments, worked some more on an EM paper due tomorrow, and plotted a paper due on Friday.
Chatted online a little, and went to the library. Twilight Zone, Season 1, came in and was waiting for me to pick it up. Also, the title for my car was delivered today. Woohoo!
Tomorrow is lunch with a friend, dinner with more friends, and a concert. And submitting the paper due (that'll be done early).
Friday, submitting the last paper due this week, starting on the one due next week, and going out that evening to yet another friends place for gaming. How the hell did the week end up busy?
Ok. Meme away.
From here - Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
and here's the list...
1. (selfless one goes first). Peace, to all my friends who are going through the rough times right now. This has been a rough year on everybody, so let's hope that a purely selfless wish will help make reboot the cosmos.
2. Icons. By now, most of you know me, my mentality (at least, the one that's here now, thanks for sitting through the dark period), and my interests. I have a bunch of space for them, so some icons would be nice. :-)
3. MUSIC. Have a music/mix/theme cd that you like? Get it to me. Just went through a "put a mix together for LJ" project, and those are always neat. To see what flavors of the moment are, what music really pulls to people, and what music I've never heard.
4. Voyagers Omni will always make the list (Though, the Hatch Key from Lost is also in the same vein right now).
5. Now You Know (Jeff Anderson's directorial Debut), on DVD.
6. Firefly prop replica: Mal's pistol. Eventually, I'll have it. I know how the screen used one was made, but a resin replica would be cool.
7. Hmm. Similar theme. Firefly Fanfic (slash need not apply :-P). Have never looked, but hey, others might have a good source.
8. Playstation 2. I doubt I can see any need in my head for a playstation 3, but a 2, that will play a lot of games I'd like. :-P
9. Number 9? Number 9? really? I don't have anything other than my number 10, so we'll jump to that one.
10. First instincts say a frakkin time machine, but going back in time to bitchslap myself would be counter-productive to where I'm actually at. So, we'll go with more of a mental serenity prayer here. /Deity of your choice/ grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
And considering it's 6:45 now, and it's taken me this long to write this, wow.
