Platelets.
Dec. 6th, 2006 03:52 pmOk. Update on the platelet donation.
Went in early, got the normal blood donation paperwork out of the way, then got lead back to the machine.
Wow, it sure looks, not quite frightening, but close.
They hooked me up. The machine draws the blood out, removes the platelets, then puts the blood back in. They add an anti-coagulant to it, which in theory makes you a little nauseous (I can't tell if my current nausea is life, the donation, or hypochondria. Place your bets and spin the wheel).
Read my two comics (Newuniversal, awesome, can't wait for more, and Spiderman: Reign, which is kinda like Spiderman: The Dark Knight Returns), and waited. As this was my first time donating platelets, they only took a single. Next time, I understand, they will try to talk me into a double or triple.
With platelets, you can go in three days after having donated platelets the last time. Not quite prepped for that idea yet. However, you can only donate 24 times in a year. (think that's right).
So, the people at the blood center were explaining things, talking to me. Asked how I was early on, and told the girl that I noticed a very slight vibration at the insertion point. She checked, turns out that's when the machine is pumping the blood back into you. She made an adjustment to slow it a little, and the vibration went away.
So, after that, came home. Now to work on my spanish that is due tonite.
And, I didn't die in the Infection game. Woohoo. AND, someone on our team created an application to keep an eye on it, so you don't have to constantly be logged into the game.
