Debates..

So, I mentioned the Route 66 trip that I was turned to a while ago.

Well, strangely (or sadly), I'm debating going to one of the biggest conventions I've heard of, at the end of July.

First, we'll backtrack. I won't be able to go to the Greek Islands this year, even if I pull all the money together (and those who have made kind offers, thank you, it's not meant to be this year). There is apparently a pre-req class that I wasn't aware of til last week. So, I'm trying to think of things to do this summer.

For those who don't know, San Diego Comic-con is, from what I know, the biggest comic book convention ever. Someone please, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I've debated it, for a long time, limited myself due to a few stupid reasons, and generally not given it much thought. That's changed, the further I get into classes, and the more I see that what I know? Is damned small. "with over 5000 vendors and a paid attendance of over 125,000 fans"

Um. Damn.

So, therein starts a debate. If I turn this into the Route 66 Road Trip? I have an ex and her husband I could visit in Texas on the way, I could visit Echo and SB further on the way, maybe see another friend I've not seen in..where is he at now, crap, can't remember. Where is Powerstar lately guys? Anyways, if I road tripped it right, I could visit several people on the way, and see a hella big convention that has always beckoned to me.

Have no idea if a local friend might be going out there this year (Must remember to ask him the next time I see him..didn't think of it last weekend when I saw him), but right now, the germ of an idea is starting to take root.

So, does anyone see flaws? Does anyone have any experience with SDCC? Cause if no one sees major flaws, I'm a bit determined not to let this years pass me by, and to actually get two things on my list taken care of. :-)

I believe PowerStar is still in Tucson, AZ.

You're more than welcome. It'd be great to see you.

Powerstar? He's in Phoenix, AZ. I think he would *LOVE* to get some company if you would like to go out and see him. You'll have to hurry before we lure him over to Tampa though. :D Then again, I guess we need to lure others to Tampa as well... Per, do you realized that there are 3 film schools in Tampa that feed students into MGM, Disney, and other studios? ;)

As for the idea, I think that it is a *GREAT* idea. You only live once, so you should make as many adventures as you can! :)

Completely depends upon what you want to get out of the trip. Flying is fast and more than likely will be cheaper (when you factor in gas, food, and hotels), however it is a very sterile way to travel. You get on the plane, you may put on your headset and thus zone out for a few hours, you get back off the plane and are there. It gives you more time to actually be at the destination. So, if your hope is to spend time in California, do it. On the other hand, the road trip will be longer and more than likely more expensive, however you get a chance to see the countryside, have some adventures, and talk with people. Heck, some of our most memorable trips are the ones we did in the car. The one in the UK where we drove the UK just to see it, and the other trip where we flipped a coin whenever we got to a crossroad or decision. You just have to remember though that if you go in the car, *DON'T* just stay in the car the whole time. The whole plan of driving is to experience life, go on side trips, and not worry about sticking to a massive schedule. Both ways have advantages and disadvantages to them. Just listen to your inner self, don't question it, and do what it recommends. You'll be happier in the long run...
