Ode to the old DVD player..
Jul. 15th, 2004 12:50 pmWell, I think my old DVD player has finally bit the dust...tried to listen to a normal CD yesterday at lunch, and it wouldn't load...so, today, tried to load a DVD, and it won't load either..
T'was an old Toshiba...I got it in Feb of 99...so, it's lived a good life. Just sad to see it go...I may try to play around with it, and see if I can make it live again, but that's more just to see if I can do anything with it...it's amazing how little there is inside a DVD player...
Now, the real danger tonite...there is a Media Play up here...before I go "home" and study, I plan on dropping by, and picking up at least 1 if not 2 DVDs..they have a "used" section..where the discs are a LOT cheaper..and, they have 3 of the out of print Bond movies I want to come closer to completing my collection. They have "For Your Eyes Only", which is the first Bond movie I remember...and they have "Moonraker", and "A View to a Kill". Out of those, I'd be more likely to snag FYEO, and Moonraker...View to a Kill is on the "If I find them on special at a good price"...as it is, I'm only missing 6 of the Bond Films...Thunderball, Live and Let Die, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Goldeneye, and License to Kill. I can thank my father for my love of Bond Films.
Truth...even tho I love Connery overall, and have liked Brosnan...my fave Bond film is still For Your Eyes Only..that's teh first one I remember watching, and the very first thing I ever recorded off cable onto a Video tape, way back when.
Class, btw, is going well...we just installed WinXP, and are going over various short cuts and commands I never knew about...LOTS to study. But, a lot that I know, so that helps.
Oh, and am more than halfway through Wil Wheaton's book, "Just a Geek". I recommend it...it's fun reading. He's not "The Kid that Ruined Star Trek". :-) He's a geek, like most of us who do this LJ thing...

Date: 2004-07-19 06:35 am (UTC)Best thing about Birthday this year was the friends who helped to celebrate it. :-) Now, if I can actually organize the movie outing next year...that is, if anything decent is playing at HOllywood.
