Advice is needed.

For the convention, Thursday "pre" party, it's going to be a pitch-in this year.

I'm planning on making a dessert. Fortunately, in the last few years, I've come across a few different ideas. What I would like? Which do you think would be the most fun?

Obviously, the discworld cake is not going to make the cut. That I could see doing if I had a few extra hands helping me.

Any suggestions? Thoughts? Other ideas in a similar vein? (And no, I can't do the Thorax Cake either, much as I'd like to sometime).

Nice. :-) Another to ponder, though, for pure appearance and "WTF??" factor, I'd likely try to mix the two. I like the appearance of the kitty litter cake.

Dark Snack was planning on making a Dalek cake for the Dr. Who room. Not saying you shouldn't do that... or perhaps y'all could conspire?

If she wants to take that site, and use ideas from it to add to her own ideas, no problem. That just means one less idea I have to ponder, and I won't complain on that :-). Also, on that site, there is a link at the bottom to a video that shows a much smaller version.

I am awed by the Dalek cake, but I think I'd be afraid to mess it up by eating it! I think I'd vote for the kitty litter cake, but the pie looks great too.

*nod* I'm in awe of the dalek cake as well, and the only thing that bothers me on it is that the chocolate looks too runny. I'd assume that's just the pain of working with chocolate. but, for a cake like that, it should look a lot more finished. I dunno..maybe make the tiles out of the square chocolate pieces, and then put a malted milkball in the center, or somesuch.

Yes, both the kitty litter cake, and the pie, look and sound great. Hence my "GAH".

The igor bars are an old standard, and relatively easy for me to do. And they are popular.

A couple years ago we took part in a LARP about a time-traveling convention. One of the exhibits on display was a Watermelon on loan from the Banzai institute.
