Aug. 19th, 2004 09:18 pmWEll, the first day of Gencon went...ok. I was stuck at a restaurant, and missed my 1:00 game...the playtest of Burn in Hell...So, that's one less game...my game at 5:00 of Greedquest had 2 good players...and that was it. :-) And, Greedquest is a quick enough game that we were done in a little less than half the alotted time (4 hours). Still, it went well, and is a fun, easy game to play...I'd recommend it to anyone.
The Dealer's Room is HUGE..and EXPENSIVE this year...it seemed a little less expensive last year, but then again, maybe my tastes weren't as well refined. :-) I'm kinda surprised by how many bootleg DVD dealers there are...I saw Song of the South at one table for $15...saw Touching Evil (the american version), which I'll wait for...and, some older stuff that I likely won't see released on DVD...hell, I saw the version of Jack and the Beanstalk that is one I've always loved.
And, we're doing a BIG push for Gurps 4E...big enough that I need to get over my fear of GM'ing, and actually run some of it...we are getting a table next to the booth that is selling SJ Games, so that we can have Men in Black demo'ing it all weekend long during booth hours. They just need quick scenarios...so, I may just run a quick "Bureau 13 Haunted House" idea that I've had kicking around...nothing actually written on it...it's all in my head, right now. Hmmm...
Got to go earlier tomorrow, and take Megan my Toon book..I've been asked to sit in on her game for a little while, as she's not run Toon before...I gave her a few pointers, we'll see how it goes. I think she can do it, I just worry about how much crazy energy Toon needs to continue and go well, before it starts getting old and stale...I still have the Toon adventure I ran from Earthgate locked in my head, so I could always run a Pick Up of that...the only problem is, when I run Toon, I tend to be walking around the table, burning off so much energy that it's kinda frightening...and, with as little caffeine as I had today, I wonder about that...
First (and I think only) game I HAVE to run is Chez Goth, at 6:00...I should look over the directions for that one too...
Oh, and heard back from Phil Foglio...they can't do our convention...which is sad, but I have a REALLY good lead on another artist...I can't wait til I can say something, and make it public/official. :-)
Oh well, time for bed...BUSY day tomorrow.
