Obviously, I need more to do. :-)
School starts after Gencon, I'm in a holding pattern for a few things, so what do I do? Go looking for more on the whole "LJ/6A issues thing".
I actually found someone who apparently is higher up in the LJ pecking order, who appears to be listening. He made one comment on this post that I found interesting and enlightening.
Magic 8 ball says "Too early to tell", but there is hope that LJ can fix some of their current PR problems.

Now, whether that truly means he pulls any weight, I don't know. This is the Inter-tubes, where things are either right, or never what they seem. :-)

This guy does sound like he's pretty clearheaded. However, he did initially post fuck-you to rumor-mongers. LJ is not going to be able to solve this PR problem if employees are allowed to vent their anger on their well-known public journals. Once you get past a certain profile, your public discourse just isn't your own anymore. LJ's clearly reluctant to accept this.
None of that addresses the fact that LJ seems to have paralyzed itself and can't build a coherent TOS. There should be lots of TOSs to build examples from. I'm going to guess eBay and Googlegroups probably have decent and well-tested TOSs. The fact is that obscenity isn't going to have a universal definition. There will always be some judgement call involved. LJ needs to make that clear too, and back it up by treating the owners of banned journals like human beings.

Exactly, and I tried pointing some of that out to him, though I hadn't thought of other TOS' to go by example. However, our stand on the definition of obscenity is similar.
