Wow, I only barely remember Robotech anymore..I remember the game system much more easily. But, given the success of Transformers, I guess this should have been a natural thought of progression. :-)

Heh. If they're really going to tell the whole three-season story they described in the article, they're screwed. The "protoculture" was an artifact of the English dubbing, used to tie together three totally unrelated mecha stories. I think the combined effect was kind of cool, actually, though strange. I don't think you could tell even the first generation, Macross, in a single movie very effectively. That's a really long, complicated story. So we'll see.

OTOH, they're also making Voltron on the coattails of Transformers, and that story has almost no plot. I think it's perfect for a movie adaptation :).

Yeah, somehow, I'm cuious, but not hopeful on Robotech..as I said, I remember so little of it, and so many people I know where BIG into it.

Voltron...wow, now I wonder whether it's the Lions, or the little cars...would almost have to be the lions. And then my brain tries to come up with designs for it..

heh. I'm pretty sure it'll be the lions. The cars just didn't have that much of an impact. (And, again, those were two totally different series that were linked together through creative dubbing.)

*nod* I think I knew that, but didn't remember it. The lions are almost the trademark..I remember so many people wondering "What the hell??" in regards to the cars.

I should look that up sometime. :-)

I tried to watch Voltron as an adult. It really doesn't hold up. The plots are amazingly formulaic and often don't make sense. But, hey, I LOVED it when I was 8 :).
