Burn Notice again.
Sep. 14th, 2007 10:41 amSo, after having taken parts of yesterday, and this morning (before going to watch a video on campus for ASL), I've been catching up on Burn Notice. I'm glad to say that I'm now only two episodes (and that includes last nights) behind.
Now, it amuses me that so far, the writers I've found for this show? Really haven't done a whole lot else. And based on this last episode I watched, hell, based on the whole show, I want to know what is going on. Much like the lead character.
I'm already going to pass this show to IndyEllen and Royalcrow. With the statement that I think they'll like, and if they like Donovan? I'll pass along Touching Evil.
More on the characters, since I'm now more than 4 eps in.
Westin (our hero) - Good character, if reminiscent of Creegan, just a tad. Former spy, who was "burned", blacklisted. Stuck in Miami, trying to find out why he was blacklisted.
This aspect of the plot worries me. Mainly, as once they resolve that, what happens next? I've seen too many shows that relied on a hook in the first season, then didn't have anywhere to go after that resolved. But, if you don't resolve it, then it drags out forever, detracting from the show.
I think they could do 3 seasons, abbreviated seasons, drawing this out a little more.
Anyways, back to characters.
Fiona. The on-again/off-again girlfriend. She tends to be a little "trigger-happy", but gets things done.
Sam (Bruce Campbell), another former spy (I think that's right), who is actually a friend, but is being leaned on by the FBI to keep tabs on Westin.
Westin ends up mostly doing small work, good deeds..and that's reminding me of a few other shows, of which I'm blanking on the names.
Anyways, in the episode list, it shows all episodes for this season, except for episode 11 (it goes from 10, which aired last night, to episode 12, which airs next week), so I'm curious what plot line they felt they couldn't air this season.
It's a good show. Much like some of my faves, I have Mobobocita to thank for the initial turn to it (which, given she hooked me on Touching Evil, was a given I'd like it), but after TE's treatment, by USA itself, I wasn't too trustful on a new show. Thanks to her as well, for leaning on me to take time to watch the Marathon some, in off time yesterday, and Confusedjew for also saying "Yes, it's a good show". Watch it, if you get the chance. I've now seen Donovan in 4 things...an episode of Homicide a LONG time ago, Touching Evil, Blair Witch 2 (which some people loved, most hated), and now Burn Notice. He has a cool "Eat shit" grin, which plays well with most of his characters.

I also think there is something that can be done when he finds out WHO burnt him but can't remove the burn.

Date: 2007-09-14 07:32 pm (UTC)There's also the bit about them dropping him with Fiona in Ep 1. That seems..outside of what they would have done in normal circumstance. But the question then becomes..how much power does Fiona have?
It'll be interesting to see how they develop that plot..if they find who burned him, but then cannot remove it. It could be drawn out a bit.
And, it's not just me, right? It does feel like a bit of Creegan in there, to me at least. I don't want to think that a "One note actor" bit..it feels like Creegan, with more experience.
Or, I may be out on a limb. :-)
