Before class.
Sep. 21st, 2007 10:33 amSo, after working on some math homework (and yay, I'm caught up, and even understanding some more of this), I decided to rewatch 1 of 2 shows...either "Firefly", or "Touching Evil". After "Burn Notice" last night, I opted for Touching Evil.
Touching Evil, for those who don't know (or haven't seen me talk about it before), was a 13 episode series, in 2004, that was adapted from a bbc series of the same name. It starred Jeffrey Donovan as David Creegan, a special agent who is shot, "dies", but doesn't. After, he has no fear, no shame, and is able to make intuitive leaps regarding criminals. He returns to service, working for OSC (Organized and Serial Crimes), and is partnered with Agent Branca (Vera Farmiga). It ALMOST is the "One is crazier, the other has to get used to that" formula, and yet it worked better than that formula had been done in a long time.
This show was something new, and neat at the time. As I've said before, Donovan is a good actor, even if I'm worried that he has one main character type. But, that's a concern for another time.
The BBC version is good, too (Hell, most if not all of the plotlines for the US version were recycled from there), but as much as I've seen BBC maniacs say that ALL BBC shows are superior, I can't agree with them on this one. TE (US) pulled it off because they made minor changes to the characters..and for once, as opposed to the disastrous attempt with Coupling, the switch to American characters worked.
Like I said, if you liked Burn Notice, I recommend it. Really, there are a lot of good TV shows I can recommend (Half of which I'd never have watched, or heard of, it I'd not been pointed to them..BN included), such as Eyes..and, in most cases, if someone is interested, let me know. :-P
And yes, a Touching Evil post SHOULD get my TE Icon. :-)
