Meme Ahoy!

I was given the following by Mooncat75:
1. Filk music - There are many varieties of music, and I was introduced to Filk at my first InConJunction. I don't remember which song I heard, but I just sat listening for an hour or so. Filk, at least to my understanding, is Folk, with fannish interpretations. Now, there are even sub varieties in there (IE: Fun filk, and filk that makes you want to find a vein). I tend to go more for the fun stuff, like Filkertom's. When I've linked to songs like "The chef they call jayne", or "I'm on Firefly", that's filk. Also, Wild Mercy is a group I can tend to take quite a bit of (They do more of an Irish mix, if I recall...but it's been a little while), and also did "Madman on the Watchtower", which I think made my LJ mix last year..if not, look for it this year. But, some of the depressing dirges..not so much. Except for A Boy and His Frog...and that one depressed, but also pays great tribute to Jim Henson.
2. synchronicity - I hold a lot of belief in that things happen for a reason, even if I can't see the reason (or the reason in front of me is pissing me off). And, when things happen, both good and bad, it's usually a few things coming together at the same time. Maybe related, maybe unrelated, or maybe just a tenuous link. The definition is "the experience of two or more events which occur in a meaningful manner, but which are causally unrelated. In order to be Synchronous, the events must be related to one another conceptually, and the chance that they would occur together by random chance must be very small." That seems to sum it up just right.
3. girl genius - The story of Agatha Heterodyne, Girl Genius. A comic (then later stopped, and carried on as a webstrip) about a world of mad scientists, and the people who must endure their genius. The story mainly follows the exploits of Agatha, Krosp (Emperor or all cats), and other companions, as they try to stay alive, act heroic, and solve a few mysteries of their past.
4. absinthe - Ah, the drink of the "Green Fairy". This alcohol has so much history behind it, that I want to try it, once. I tried, many years ago, a knock-off, called "Pernod", which wasn't bad, but given the history behind Absinthe itself, and its reputation (which upon reading, is mostly undeserved) and ritual, I want to try the original sometime.
5. horror makeup - How people do things like make-up, theatrical and movie art, amazes me. I've seen it done, and seen it done both well, and badly. Seeing how cheaply people can make realistic blood, or wounds, is an amazing art to watch. I doubt that I'll get into it, but it is something I'm curious about, especially given all the horror movies I grew up watching.
6. recipes - *heh* Hadn't thought of this one in a while. I like varied recipes, even if I never take the time to cook, or at least not very often. Recipes for the kitty litter cake, Igor Bars (yum), various chicken dishes..it is a hope that I will actually use my kitchen more in the future, and so I'll want some recipe books. I've already got the Browncoat cookbook, and a recipe for a Babylon 5 dish that I plan to make sometime.
7. the it crowd - A BBC series about 2 inept IT workers and their inept manager. Of course, being IT, hijinks ensue. 6 episodes came out before I moved, and then just a few weeks ago, the second season of 6 episodes has been airing. I would have to say, I like it because the techs are good with the machines, and good with each other, but not so good at dealing with anyone else (and the show hits on the caricatures a lot..the Boss who has no computer knowledge...accounting depts, etc.) It's a fun show. Even if sometimes the humor is a little off (every bit, it pokes more fun at people, and not the situations..)
