Picked up a book..

So, I picked up a book while at the convention a few weeks ago.."The Wit and Wisdom of Discworld", where it pulls choice statements, quotes, etc..out of the varied discworld books.

I have found several that I thought of putting up here, but I just read one that screamed for it.

For those unaware, Death is exactly what you'd think he would look like..and is a main (and one of the favorite) characters in this series. Death speaks in ALL CAPITALS. Those who have read the books (I've read 3 at this point) can tell you much more..

There is also a wizard, inept, who can't really be called a wizard (I don't think I've seen him cast a spell to this point), named Rincewind...who believes that where you're running to isn't as important as what you're running from..I THINK (I may be getting the motivation backward). Anyway..this is a quote, from the book "The Last Continent"

"Ghastly thought, really." Rincewind shuddered. "Oh, gods, I've just had another one. Suppose I am just about to die and this is my whole life passing in front of my eyes?"
I THINK PERHAPS YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND. PEOPLE'S WHOLE LIVES DO PASS IN FRONT OF THEIR EYES BEFORE THEY DIE. THE PROCESS IS CALLED "LIVING".

Blues and I own the entire paperback collection... plus some signed books... plus some books in other languages... plus a signed print of one of the covers... oh, and a t-shirt.

We have even been to a DiscWorld-only convention in England.

To call us fans is an understatement.

The convention would have been neat. I'm assuming you got to watch the "Hogfather" series? And are keeping track of the next movie? :-)

I've only read a few books, but the Wit and Wisdom book seemed a must (Am a fan of such..I've got one for Callahan's,and had a Lazarus Long notebook, once upon a time).

Have you seen the Discworld Cake that someone came up with a while ago?

I absolutely love the Discworld series. I'm still working on a few of them, but so far I've been reading stuff involving Rincewind a lot.

Really great stuff. I love that dialog between Rincewind and Death you put up. It's got a very good point.

It is an awesome dialogue, and one that I've heard before, in other ways..but need to remind myself of now and then. :-)
