Picked up a book..
Oct. 19th, 2007 11:22 amSo, I picked up a book while at the convention a few weeks ago.."The Wit and Wisdom of Discworld", where it pulls choice statements, quotes, etc..out of the varied discworld books.
I have found several that I thought of putting up here, but I just read one that screamed for it.
For those unaware, Death is exactly what you'd think he would look like..and is a main (and one of the favorite) characters in this series. Death speaks in ALL CAPITALS. Those who have read the books (I've read 3 at this point) can tell you much more..
There is also a wizard, inept, who can't really be called a wizard (I don't think I've seen him cast a spell to this point), named Rincewind...who believes that where you're running to isn't as important as what you're running from..I THINK (I may be getting the motivation backward). Anyway..this is a quote, from the book "The Last Continent"
********************************
"Is it true that your life passes before your eyes before you die?"
YES
"Ghastly thought, really." Rincewind shuddered. "Oh, gods, I've just had another one. Suppose I am just about to die and this is my whole life passing in front of my eyes?"
I THINK PERHAPS YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND. PEOPLE'S WHOLE LIVES DO PASS IN FRONT OF THEIR EYES BEFORE THEY DIE. THE PROCESS IS CALLED "LIVING".

Date: 2007-10-19 08:03 pm (UTC)I've only read a few books, but the Wit and Wisdom book seemed a must (Am a fan of such..I've got one for Callahan's,and had a Lazarus Long notebook, once upon a time).
Have you seen the Discworld Cake that someone came up with a while ago?
