I see the ghosts...no fist thrusting (wow, does that sound odd) needed.

Every now and then, I keep hearing a quote that I'd heard many times, but came to prominence, for me, thanks to Babylon 5. Hence why it's back in my head. But, it's at odds with other ideologies.

“Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it”

I've tried living that, but always run into issues with the theory. History gives memories and a point of reference for making things better.

And yet, at what point do we have to sacrifice such memories, good and bad? There's something to be said for learning from your mistakes...yet at what point do you just let that go?

The problem I see with letting go of the past...you forget the reason you learned a lesson in the first place. It seems there should be a better recall mechanism than that. :-)
