University of Phoenix called today...I'm going over to look at their facilities on Monday (When I take a vacation..will be off for 3 days). Will be going there to tour, talk to the woman who came to work here in order to see how many of us wanted to get degrees..there were only a few of us, and mine is likely to annoy people, as I don't WANT one in IS or computers...
Talking to her, I found that their degree is more for like IS Management, which is what my boss does..and I'm sorry, I'm not that good at that portion of it. I do better at dealing with the users day to day.
So, the big question there is, what DO I do? And what do I want to do with my life? What classes can they offer that will fulfill that?
*sigh* Too tired..slept ok last night, but not well enough yet. Will take a little longer for me to be able to do that on the new mattress. I'll hope to be there soon.

Date: 2004-11-18 02:22 pm (UTC)the last comment has a point though. do you like what you're doing now? would you want to continue and if not what have you always wanted to try?
just a couple of questions to ask yourself.

Date: 2004-11-18 03:14 pm (UTC)Of course, the thought of going to college at 31 is kinda scary...especially while trying to live on my own, with a full time job.
CJ: If I find it, I'll let ya know..tho, I may not be the best example. I AM 31, and that feels a little sad to not quite know what I should do, or what I want to do. Then again, I remember something I read years ago, where it said that the most interesting people someone knew hadn't figured that out, and they were 40+...

Date: 2004-11-19 06:46 am (UTC)as for college, it's never too late. i have a minor in psych, tis quite interesting. although to actually do something with it you'd have to be in school for the next ten years or so. just take some time and think about if that's what you're really interested in, if so, ten years isn't so bad.

Date: 2004-11-19 11:00 am (UTC)As for what you want to do with your life. A good percentage of the people don't know what they want to do with their life. It's not just you. I have someone in my department who has three degrees (Biology, Pharmacy, and now a judicial) and has gone through 2 different career paths and is starting the third after he retires from the company. Sure, there are some people who know from conception, but others that just kinda fall into it, and still others who never may know. Best thing to do is take different classes, talk to people about what they do (just go up to people on the street and start talking...it's amazing what you can find out), and keep exploring new hobbies. Sometimes the coolest jobs are ones you never knew that were out there.
