So, I leave for work this morning about 7:30....get to the steps going down at my Apt...notice ice, so am careful going down the steps, and am even holding onto the handrail...and my foot slips out from under me.

Came down hard on my left leg, and my ass...and my hand scraped off of the handrail (Several nicks in my finger from where I tried to keep myself from falling). At this point, I proceeded to slide and bump down the stairs..the book that was in my other hand flew out of its dust jacket, and both pieces landed near the bottom....about 2 steps from me, when I finished my slide/fall. Got up SLOWLY, to realize that my leg is killing me, and I'm bleeding slightly from the finger..Oh joy, Oh fun. Slowly walk to my car, only to realize that it is iced up..so, I can't open the door. The scraper? Is inside the car.

So, I try to do what i normally do..use my hand to hit and loosen some of the ice on the door. Yeah, this after having just injured that hand. Mama sure did raise a genius. After some swearing, I tried the other door...still frozen. Popped open the trunk, and looked for a spare scraper...no dice. I ended up finding a plastic container of "wipes" that I used to bat at the ice...finally got the door opened. Sat down, and leg screamed once again. *sigh* Started the car, and looked for my ice scraper..nowhere to be seen. *double sigh* Hmmm...so, let the car warm up, and then let the defroster clear the windshield of ice.

Made it into work, ahve taken Ibuprofen, and tried taking it easy...finger hurts a little, left leg hurts some, but now the ankle is starting to have little "Hey, idiot, what'd ya do to me" pains..

And that's been my Wednesday morning so far.

On a FUN note, my cheap DVD Writer should be arriving today. Toys...

Wipes? Like disinfecting wipes? Never thought of that.

What I usually did when the locks to my door iced over was run super-hot water onto a washcloth, put the washcloth in a plastic bag, and hold that up against the lock till it thawed. Probably a back-assward way to do it, but it go the job done without getting additional moisture in the lock to freeze back over.

you could get deicer. a little car spray thing that can help you open your doors so you can get to your scrapers. just remember to keep it outside your car. made that mistake before and it wasn't pretty.

hope your leg feels better.
