An update on Tom, and a quote that's been hounding me.

InCon is doing a concert, and as I understand it, it's a "Benefit for Tom", or "Songs sung like Tom". I can't recall the exact wording, and Tom references it. As I recall as well, there will be a strictly donations part of it, as medical bills, when one is supporting himself via music, are a bitch. Hence why I've also been pointing folks to http://www.tomsmithonline.com so that, if you like his music, or want to gift it to friends if THEY like him, then that helps him as well. Unfortunately, it feels there are a finite number of things I can do to help friends, but that seems a good one to me.

The other part is a quote that I have on a bookmark. It's in the "Wild Cards" book that I'm reading (well, it doesn't come WITH the book..it's one I'm using in said book..which is a good book...called "Inside Straight"..if you like Wild Cards, you should like this one).

Anyways, I'm digressing...the quote is on the bookmark, and it's one that I've been trying to follow anymore.

I REALLY liked "Inside Straight" I had read the first 8 or so books in the Wild Card series, and book 7 or 8 was when they started to suck. I've been told that later books in the series are good, but I have had difficulty finding them to read them. "Inside Straight" was really enjoyable, and closer to the feel of the early books in the series.

I believe 7 was my first (The main character was Popinjay, right?), and I loved it. Didn't ever read 8..nor any, really, after that. Always meant to..and the new series is REALLY hard to find. No half-price stores have had em, that I've seen. Will try conventions. I've read the first two of the actual early novels, long ago, too. and have pulled out all I own, to read through.

Inside Straight I found for 5 bucks at 1/2 price books, several weeks ago, and decided "What the hell". And I'm loving it. Just got done with DB's story (wow..I was surprised), and am wondering how it's going to wrap up. Have you seen that there is also a comic book that just came out, new story, called "The Hard Call", featuring Croyd?? :-)
