First, Happy Birthday to Desidera!! :-)

This weekend, went to a friends place to work on my convention, and then Saturday, we had the meeting. This year was the annual election meeting. Some changes, all seem good. A new conchair, for 2007.

Today was helping Savidya move some furniture around, and then a little bit of shopping. Found a copy of Bob and Tom's "With a little help from our friends" at Half Price books for $20. Ebay generally has this running between 80-100+, so that was quite a good price...I can either keep it to fill the collection (now only missing 2 old ones, and a more recent one), or sell it for the profit on Ebay.

Got home, set the VCR to record Desperate Housewives, and had my father call to ask if i was relenting and going to watch "24" this season...I won't be.

Watched Buffy, which concluded with an episode where Joyce was found by Buffy at the end of the episode...at which point I stopped to watch the premiere of "Carnivale"...neat show, still, and I'm real curious where it will end up going, but I'm partly worried, as they've set up a weird little trap for the show.

It ended, and I'm now watching Buffy...an entire episode dealing with the loss of Joyce. I'll say that Whedon is, once again, a genius. So far this ep, there was something weird to me...and it's that there is no background music. Just the scenes. I can't say much more, as I'm still watching, but damn if this isn't one of the more powerful episodes I've seen. The varied characters dealing with grief. Hell, even Buffy having a "dream" scene of everything being all right. If you get a chance, it's one of the episodes to watch.

Anyway..the rest of this week should be fun. More convention stuff to work on. Need to find a way to make some areas of the convention work a little. I need to apologize here, as well, to Soundrigger (Not an account, he posts anonymously from time to time.) Last night, we were talking, and he made mention that if I wanted to improve the Masquerade, I should talk to some of the Anime people, because at Anime conventions, they do some elaborate costumes, and apparently, my look turned to a glare, at which point he started apologizing, and trying to literally shove his foot into his mouth. :-) I apologized there, and do so again here.

And that's all I really have for an update at this time. Will try to update more later this week.

I watched the season premier, and I have to say that it didn't live up to the rave reviews I heard about seasons 1 and 2. Particularly, as you say, the terrorism theme made me really uncomfortable. It felt like it was bordering on racism, feeding on fears we already have about Middle Easterners that need to be quelled rather than inflamed. Not sure if I'll continue with it, but I'd really like to see those earlier season.

It did have some pretty interesting subplots, the most noteworthy being the teenage son of terror agents who is in an illicit relationship with an American girl.

appreciate the gesture. i've seen all the episodes of buffy, it's actually an interesting story, or sad, depending on how you look at it on how i did it. i LOVE 'the body'. it's probably one of joss' best. the lack of music, except for the dream of course, was intentional so you felt the loss i think. loved anya's speech up in willow's room. that whole exchange is brillant.

as for carnivale, i like the premeire. it's just the begining and although i didn't quite have the wtf reaction i did to every episode last year but i think it's because of the background now. love that show although the brother/sister relationship with brother justin is just wrong. even if he is the devil.
