Apr. 5th, 2005 08:17 amRight. You're supposed to update these things once in a while.
Well, first, I"m a little tired..go figure. It was a busy weekend...Meeting with the treasurer of our club on Friday, Club Meeting on Saturday, and what turned out to be Sunday at the hospital with a friend...all is well, but still, it was me in a hospital.
And I managed to hear a phrase I never want to hear in the hospital again..there was a couple (Redneck, by my guestimate), and the Father was telling the mother that she shouldn't go back to visit their son now, who was in emergency..the reason was that "they are stitching him up. But, the good news is he only ripped ONE testicle"
GAH! GAH!!!!
They seemed totally unaware that Sa and I were there, and she and I are doing our damnedest NOT to crack up. I start to lose it, and decide that I need to throw away the cookie wrapper and BAD Hot Chocolate...something about that type of food in a hospital.
Then, that night, we went to see Sin City.
VERY Violent, but I loved it...dunno if it's a Pulp Fiction vibe, or what...or if it's that I've read the comics, and think they kept to the comics DAMN well. And, the way it was filmed did allow for it to have the "comic book" physics...ya know, where a guy can be hit with a car 3 or 4 times, and still get up...Where characters can jump off tall buildings, and land on the ground without staggering or breaking their legs. :-) I'd recommend it.
Tonite? Catching up on TV...I thought I'd screwed up last night..had gone to record Banzai! While I was asleep..and thought I'd missed it..well, the computer caught it, just like it was supposed to. Yay. :-) And, for some reason, the rest of the week "feels" busy...tho, I'm not so sure it is. Oh well, I'll figure it out.

Date: 2005-04-06 03:08 pm (UTC)I get the feeling this is going to very much be a "Love it or hated it" type of movie. :-)

Date: 2005-04-06 03:23 pm (UTC)I don't know if I would like the comics, but I might. I think that a movie needs to be faithful to the spirit of a book, but absolute faithfulness is bad too. A lot of dialogue, action, and visual style don't translate well. For example, I thought the white blood thing didn't work well, while I'm sure it looked striking in the comic.
Yep - right up there with "Did you drink out of my spit can"

Oh - to just sit in the hospital and watch humanity - it does a person well to do it once a year or so.. :)
later,
